Friday Bench: Look to the horizon

Bench at Hodsock Priory

I love how this bench merges with the fence behind it, which in turn frames the view to the estate beyond and the stately trees on the horizon.

We were there for the wondrous snowdrops on Tuesday, and this view has also stayed with me.

I haven’t joined in any WordPress memes before, but their recent invitation to join a worldwide 5 kilometre walk last week struck a chord.

I need to get more active, and the email mentioned Map My Walk. Is there a suitable route on there for Chippenham? It turned out there was.

I’d love to live somewhere where I can just step out the door into wonderful scenery, preferably with mountains or the sea, or both. Sadly living in Chippenham means urban walking from my door, or a drive elsewhere. At least I now have a 5 kilometre route with takes in 2 out of the 3 main open spaces the town has to offer.

Last Tuesday dawned bright and sunny and with the trees at their peak colour, I really had no excuse not to go.
