‘The Temple of a Thousand Bells’ is a must-see installation at St Mary’s in York until November 4th 2012. It’s a really evocative piece – make sure you stand in the middle to get the full effect like I did, unlike the other visitors.
For those of you who can’t make it, this link gives you a good idea of what it’s about, including some of the ‘soundscape’ which accompanies the installation.
A ‘Sign of the Times’ from yesteryear left on the side of a building in York. What I’d like to know is this: if Bile Beans are so good for you, why aren’t they available today?
Update: I’ve since found out this is an example of a Ghost Sign: a fascinating rabbit hole to fall into 😉
More about Bile Beans here – well worth a look!
Whilst out and about in York last week I came upon this intriguing photoshoot in the area in front of Betty’s cafe. Why the model was hanging from the lampost wasn’t exactly clear. I wasn’t sure if she was modelling clothes, the handbag or maybe she was starring in a local theatre production. One of the two other women in the party was carrying a heavy pile of old fashioned looking books – another prop to be used later perhaps?
